How the duty rota works

One pharmacy in Alghero stays open outside normal hours — the farmacia di turno. The duty rotates weekly and covers nights, Sundays and public holidays. The current rota is also posted on the door of every pharmacy in town, so if you are already out and this page is not to hand, the nearest closed pharmacy will point you to the open one.

Normal opening hours are roughly 9:00–13:00 and 16:30–20:00 on weekdays, with variations per pharmacy and season. The pharmacy at the hospital is not a substitute for the duty pharmacy — it serves the wards.

Before you go

Take the empty box of anything you take regularly. Brand names differ between countries; the active substance on the box is what the pharmacist matches.
Take your health card (tessera sanitaria) if you have one — electronic prescriptions are retrieved with it.
At night, ring the bell. Service is through a hatch; a short wait is normal.
